Hotel Indigo under construction at 515 N. Central Ave. in Glendale

The site of a shuttered Burger King restaurant at Central Avenue and Doran Street in Downtown Glendale has made way for the construction of a new hotel. The new Hotel Indigo, a project from VK Group, was approved in 2020 by the Glendale City Council. The project at 515 N. Central Avenue calls for the construction of a seven-story building featuring 142 guest rooms, as well as amenities such as a pool deck, a fitness room, meeting rooms, and a 137-car underground garage.

City Planning Commission approves Koreatown hotel project at 3216 W. 8th Street

A proposal which would bring a new hotel and apartments to a corner lot in Koreatown is moving forward. At its meeting on July 11, the Los Angeles City Planning Commission voted to approve plans from applicant Mike Barry which would redevelop a property at 3216 W. 8th Street with a new seven-story building which would feature a 60-room hotel, 20 apartments, and 3,950 square feet of ground-floor commercial uses. Plans also call for a three-level, 71-car subterranean parking garage.

Edwards, Thomas Slatkin score $400M refi on Santa Monica hotels

The Slatkin brothers, Edward and Thomas, have refinanced two of their marquee hotels in Santa Monica, with $400 million in new debt. The Slatkins, who run Edward Thomas Collections, scored a $280 million loan to back the 198-key Shutters on the Beach and the 129-room Casa del Mar Hotel by the Sea, plus a $120 million mezzanine loan, according to a report from ratings agency Moody’s.
